January was an unbelievable month for us. Finally, we had our cruising boat, and we loved her. It felt like we we making real progress, maybe, just maybe we could sail soon.

We tried to focus on our new boat and waited for something we knew would come soon: weather warm enough to bring her home.

I moved onto Good Company permanently in April, feeling home at last. I stayed alone onboard in Rock Hall, Maryland, until Chip could arrange time off from the wine shop for us to bring the boat home.
We started by crossing to Annapolis, then hopped to Solomons, Deltaville and Great Bridge before entering North Carolina.
The power of our new boat was evident from the beginning, and just miles after crossing the North Carolina state line, I got a phone call.

4th Arrived in Manteo on Good Company and on top of the world
We moved on the boat in earnest, waiting for the deal on the business to finalize and feeling the impact of shaking up our world, to nervous to hope, too hopeful to breathe.

Would you look at that! It happened. We did it. Five years and 18 days into our five-year plan, we sold the wine shop.

18th Christened Cara Mia
In July, we took Good Company on her final voyage, thanked her for her service and renamed her Cara Mia, my beloved in Italian, which we revealed at our bon voyage party.

We left our home dock in Manteo on October 24th, and I can't say it any better than I did back then with our first entry in the new blog: Our New World
We have set off to see the world and dip our toes in the brightest turquoise water we can find. Glad you've come along!
